Meet Mel — Clinical Naturopath With Interests in Women’s Gut & Hormone Health
I am is a degree qualified Naturopath and Nutritionist who is passionate about bringing balance back to your body and mind. I utilise a gentle holistic approach that is up-to-date and evidence based, used to assess and uncover the root causes of your health complaints.
I fell in love with Naturopathy through visiting a naturopath myself, for health issues such as acne and pre-menstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). I believe that herbalism is such a gentle, yet robust art that plays a critical role in modern society. Preventative medicine is far more important and a more reasonable health care offering than we give it credit.
I studied her Bachelor of Health Science (BHSc Nat) at Endeavour College of Natural Health in Sydney and is a member of the Naturopaths and Herbalists Association of Australia (NHAA).

Naturopathy is a health care system and philosophy that encompasses a variety of modalities such as functional nutrition, food as medicine, herbalism, flower essence therapy and iridology. Naturopathy is used to assess and uncover the root cause of your health complaints, placing emphasis on the connections between each organ in the body and how they work with each other.
Our philosophy is to treat the whole person, which relieves symptomatic treatment and focuses on resolving the root cause of illness. Naturopaths solely focus on using nature to cure, as the human body is designed to endogenously heal itself. If we remove the disturbing factors that cause disease then our health and mind will restore.

While pathology reports of your blood work may report that the numbers are in the “normal range”, they may actually be abnormal.
Naturopaths consider your results not just against the Australian average, but also take into account what the result should be for healthy individuals, often finding subtle discrepancies and sub-optimal levels that might indicate issues, or require support.
Pathology reference ranges are based on a group of “healthy” people which can be a slippery slope. Who should define normality and using which criteria? Traditional lab results also use broad ranges to define what is “normal,” but this can miss small variations that affect health.
When I assess blood work, I take a critical eye to the normal ranges, and I aim for optimal health rather than just avoiding disease. I search for patterns and values within the normal range that may hint at early imbalances or deficiencies that may be associated with your complaints
Areas of Expertise
On days that Melissa is not consulting with all her clients, you will always find her outside in nature.
She enjoys surfing at her local break with her community, bushwalking in new places around Australia and driving to new camping spots with her partner in their Hiace campervan.
